Great post Ben! I feel like that post is full of aa number of life lessons that I've read about in all my self help books. Thanks for sharing so much (the good & the bad) I'm proud of you and your adventures and hopefully if you are on the road long enough I can meet up with you at some point. In the meantime keep hanging in there!

Thanks man, means the world. I mean, I LITERALLY wouldn't be out here without you. You were the first one I told about the idea, and if you had been hesitant or thrown cold water on it, I probably wouldn't have had the courage to do it. You and Big D are the rocks this van is rolling on! Love ya cousin

Well, MAN was I glad when you found your sunglasses! I can relate. I always had perfect vision (don't hate me) and then when I was in my late thirties, I realized that I could no longer read the far away signs on the highway. WTF??? So at the tender age of 39, I got driving glasses. Then I started to have to use them in the movies. Then I started to have to use them watching tv. It was depressing. My perfect, fabulous eyes were FAILING!! I did not feel good about that. Then I had my lenses replaced surgically because I had (wait for it) "Young person cataracts" Again: WTF??? I had that taken care of and had distance lenses put in that were good, but still not as good as the eyesight I was born with. BUT NOW: I again need distance glasses. And my eyes are changing so fast that I need new lenses every six months. And my car is dead in the garage because it's so much easier to take public transport or a taxi, and my prescription sunglasses (which are now out of date) are in my dead car's glove compartment. *sigh* I think it's time to get the car fixed.... or maybe I'll wait until spring. This winter has been horrid. This winter SUCKS here in the east.

But the most important part of this post is: I will be in Tucson from Feb 1 to Feb 7. Are you still near Tucson? Maybe we can get together? I'm staying at an airbnb with my friend Marylou (your copyeditor) and my daughter Lily and her husband Dylan (all fun people). HOPING TO SEE YOU SOON! (or maybe not--your call.)

BETSY! I might actually be headed that way... I was just trying to decide on a direction! I'll hit you up on email, that would be so fun if we can work it out!

That would be so cool!

And you already know Marylou!

I didn't get close enough to take any! But if I head back down that way I'm going to stop by and take a tour :-)

Good call on the boots, man. As a long time practitioner of walking meditation (a rumination roamer, if you will), something that I learned about walking in flip flops is that your foot can just break. You step, and *pop* and then you're in a boot for weeks (and probably weeks longer than originally needed, because you don't actually stop walking while in the boot). So yeah, good call.

OMG Katie! OUCH. I mean... I'm not giving up on my flops, I love those more than I love life itself. But I'm definitely not going to hike in them anymore, lol.

Glad your tootsie's healed up!

Oh definitely don't give up the flops. Along with your jacket, they're signature pieces.
